Dr Ian Nussey OBE FREng HonDEng HonFIET

After four years as a Lucas graduate apprentice and research scholar, Ian joined IBM as a trainee systems engineer. He spent the next 51 years with the company, including 17 leading a group turning good ideas into marketable software, and 35 creating and leading IBM UK's elite pre-university employment programme. He also chaired the IBM UK Technical Consultancy Group for seven years, served as the IBM Academy of Technology's EMEA vice-president and latterly worked part-time on University and External Relations. Ian finally retired from IBM in October 2014.

His Royal Academy of Engineering service includes eight years on Council, the RAEng and Royal Society's Science and Engineering Policy Studies Unit (SEPSU) chair and the Proactive Membership Committee's inaugural chair. He is currently a member of the Academy's Ingenia Editorial Board, and Visiting Professors Management Group and elsewhere Cardiff Honorary Professor, member of the IET Awards and Prestige Lecture committees and the University of Warwick's Arts Centre Board and a Young Engineers and Imagineering Foundation trustee.

Professional interests include information technology and manufacturing engineering; personal ones include family, enjoying all forms of Arts and struggling to control a family nature reserve.
